Colorgenics profile

So... yes. I've been very gone, and I apologize. Work has been crazy.

Anywho, I saw that zombres had posted about this Colorgenics test thing and thought I'd give it a whirl. IT IS TERRIFYINGLY ACCURATE. TERRIFYINGLY.

Here's what it said about me:

You are tending to pursue your objectives with concentrated intensity and it would seem that whatever obstacles may come into your path, you will stick to your guns and will not allow yourself to be deflected from your purpose. You are striving to achieve recognition and what is more - you deserve it.

You need an atmosphere of peace and quiet and you would like to share a bond of understanding with the 'right person' - you have the belief that with the right person, your stress and anxiety could be minimised.

You need a friend - a close friend - and you are willing to become emotionally involved with the right person, but you are very demanding and particular in your choice of partners. You are constantly looking for reassurance and it is perhaps because of this that you tend to be somewhat argumentative, but you try to hold back - careful to avoid open conflict - since this might reduce your prospects of realising your hopes of establishing a warm caring relationship.

Presently, you are experiencing stress because of restriction on your independence. You need and seek respect from other people and it is essential that they appreciate you for yourself and not for what they would like you to be. You have your own beliefs and convictions and you would like to be respected for them. You are anxious to avail yourself of every opportunity that may come your way but nevertheless, come what may, you have the need to control your own destiny without imposed limitations or restrictions.

You don't like authority and you rebel against all forms of limitation. You are your own person and you intend to stay that way and to get on in the world simply by your hard work and determination.

HOLY JESUS. All of this is so accurate it's stunning. If you want to try it out, it's here.

ACTA in a Nutshell –

What is ACTA?  ACTA is the Anti-Counterfeiting Trade Agreement. A new intellectual property enforcement treaty being negotiated by the United States, the European Community, Switzerland, and Japan, with Australia, the Republic of Korea, New Zealand, Mexico, Jordan, Morocco, Singapore, the United Arab Emirates, and Canada recently announcing that they will join in as well.

Why should you care about ACTA? Initial reports indicate that the treaty will have a very broad scope and will involve new tools targeting “Internet distribution and information technology.”

What is the goal of ACTA? Reportedly the goal is to create new legal standards of intellectual property enforcement, as well as increased international cooperation, an example of which would be an increase in information sharing between signatory countries’ law enforcement agencies.

Essential ACTA Resources

  • Read more about ACTA here: ACTA Fact Sheet
  • Read the authentic version of the ACTA text as of 15 April 2011, as finalized by participating countries here: ACTA Finalized Text

Say NO to ACTA. It is essential to spread awareness and get the word out on ACTA.

I generally hang onto whatever media I have and don't buy much. But this will be worth it.

Movie Monday: Buffy the Vampire Slayer

Ok. Yes. I realize that Buffy is not a movie. Well, ok. It IS a movie. But it is a movie I have not seen. I here am talking about the TV show.

I realize that Buffy is pretty much old news for most of my flist. You've all already watched it and reveled in it and enjoyed it. But up until the past few weeks, I'd never seen much of it. I know I caught an episode or two when I was a kid, but as I recall it terrified me, and I never gave it much of a chance.

I came home from work a few weeks ago to find my boy watching Buffy. At first I as puzzled, and not a little annoyed by the show. This is probably in part due to the fact that Nick was watching bits and pieces of season 4, and I had no clue what was happening.

Slowly but surely, I came around. I started to get attached to characters and pairings. I started asking questions about the plot.

And of course, I started shipping things.

Here are my (highly consolidated) thoughts on all things shippy in Buffy. Bear in mind that I'm only in the middle of Season 3 (although I've seen most of season 4 at this point.)

Stop! Shippin" Time!Collapse )

Two sort-of bad days in a row.

Friday, I spent too much time looking at political/religious stuff that made me incredibly angry. There's the transphobic girl scout, for one, and people raging at Jessica Ahlquist, and... yeah.

Then today - it was a nice, quiet day, until my mom called. My grandma is suffering from dementia and it's been getting worse. She's been living with my aunt and uncle for a few months, but we're going to need to put her back in a home. Not a pleasant realization for any of us. We're trying to get her into the home she was at in my hometown - we know the staff there, and we know grandma was well taken care of. But there's a lot of family tension about where she should go and how she should proceed, and things are getting nasty.

At any rate, Bad Romance didn't happen, mostly because I was angry. Here's some writing for you, though:

A little bit about the Dwindler.Collapse )

Last week's post on nesting seemed to be quite the success, so here are more delicious recipes just for you. The theme this week? DESSERTS. DELICIOUS,DELICIOUS DESSERTS.

I'm just going to tell you that researching this entry has left me with so many tabs open that I can't even count how many are there. And most of them are delicious sweets.

Deliciousness abounds below the cut.Collapse )

Wardrobe Wednesday: Truth in Advertising

I was totally going to do a cute, adorable outfit post for you today.

I was.

But then I got to cooking, and then to repainting like I wanted to, and then to showering, and - yes. It just never happened.

Nick had the fantastic idea to show exactly what I wore all day today. Which was pajamas. Specifically, his pajamas. And his hoodie. And his tank top.

So here. This is what I actually wore today - no make-up, no anything. Just PJs.

And just in case you want to see what I was actually doing today...

Obviously, it's a fairly amateurish paint job. It's my first time ever doing something quite like this, and I don't have much in the way of painting experience. I'm pleased with the results, but obviously I have tons to learn and tons to experiment with in the future.
